About Me

Well hey!

I’m Whitney. Whitney Drebot to be exact. My last name is pronounced like the “DRE” in “DREadlocks” followed by “BOW” like the kind you put in your hair. (Or your dreadlocks if you have them.) The “T” is silent. I know. It's a mouthful. You can call me Whit.

I'm married to a cute boy named Josh and I love him to pieces. I am an Art and Design Major at Utah Valley University. I am focusing my studies on photography, graphic design, and water color art. I almost always have The Office on in the background while I'm edit pictures and am currently trying to re-watch every single season of Survivor with my husband. Grapefruit juice is my favorite thing to drink and I learned from my dad that it tastes best with salt in it.

I believe it is very important to get to know your photographer before you hire them, so I left below a little background about how I got into all of this so feel free to peak through it and get to know me a little bit better.

How I started

My passion for photography and graphic design started when I was in elementary school. My mom purchased a cheep version of Photoshop Elements and I was hooked. While all the other 90's babies were doing that one thing in Microsoft Paint where you draw a bunch of swirls and then fill in all the spaces (anyone else remember this?), I was teaching myself Photoshop. It wasn't long after this that I received my first camera. I remember having photoshoots with my friends in my parents unfinished basement all the time. One of my most favorite memories was when I made some of my friends dress up like they went to Hogwarts and I took pictures of them jumping with a broomstick and then later Photoshopped them to make it look like they were playing a game of Quidditch.

From there on out photography and graphic design were my thing. Throughout Jr. High and High School I loved trying to design professional looking posters and brochures for all of my projects in as many classes as I could. I loved surprising my teachers who expected hand drawn posters and crayon colored assignments with professional looking designs. I took as many Photography, Digital Media, and Art classes as I could in Jr. High and High School.

College, weddings, and a cute little business

After High School I served a mission for my church in Orlando, Florida for a year and a half. When I returned home from my mission I began college at Utah Valley University in Orem Utah. After flipping back and forth between studying Graphic Design and Photography for a little while, I finally settled on declaring a major in Art and Design. I chose to be an Art and Design major because it allowed me to study both Photography and Graphic Design as well as other useful Art mediums like Watercolor Art which I use to make custom water color wedding invitations.

In my first year in college I met the cutest boy named Josh. (feel free to read all the deets HERE) We obviously fell madly in love and we got married in June of 2018. He's the love of my life and the biggest cheerleader of this little business of mine. One of the most important things to me when it came to planning my wedding was finding a photographer who would not only give me beautiful pictures, but would also be fun and easy to work with. Luckily, I found an awesome photographer named Ashley and had a wonderful experience. After the experience that came from my own wedding I decided I wanted to start photographing weddings myself!

My very first full wedding that I ever shot was for my best friend Jordan who married her sweetheart Trent. They were such troopers as they let me have my first taste of what it was like to be a wedding photographer. From then on I was hooked and I've absolutely loved being a wedding photographer ever since.

What photography means to me

Photography to me is one of the most precious and sacred things that exist in the world of technology. The ability to capture a moment in time and preserve it forever is such a beautiful thing. It is my passion to capture the most important moments in the lives of my clients so that the memory of their most important days can be remembered forever.
